740: The New Standard For Qualifying Credit Scores

It seems like just yesterday that you could get a subprime loan with a 640 credit score. Boy, those were the days weren’t they? Just about anybody could qualify for a house. Now, we’ve swung the other direction. Just after the demise of the mortgage industry in 2007, the minimum required credit score was raised to 680, then 700, and now… this. (more…)
